“Local Models” is the term we use to designate development projects in specific towns or selected city districts. Here the Freudenberg Foundation works together with partner organizations (e.g. the RAA regional offices or community foundations) to improve conditions – by accompanying children over an extended period of time and orienting assistance along the prevailing needs – in at least one of our major program areas, e.g. integration and society, youth between school and working life as well as strengthening democratic culture at school and in communities. For this purpose, we are developing practical approaches to use at the junctions between kindergarten and school, school and home, school and working life as well as school and youth work. Based on our experiences such efforts are successful if there are people who, with the active support of municipal agencies, work towards achieving practical improvements in the educational and integration opportunities of children and adolescents from deprived environments.
