The Migration Council is a registered association with the objective of consulting the political public as well as professional institutions on questions of migration, integration, discrimination and intercultural development. It evolved from the group of academics which was supported by the Freudenberg Foundation together with the German Association of Donors for the Sciences in Germany. That group wrote and published the „Manifesto of the 60“ in 1994. The manifesto presented proposals for a law on immigration, integration and a new law on citizenship as well as an anti-discrimination law. Every two years the Migration Council publishes an immigration report in which it discusses the problems prevailing in this socio-political area. At the same time, the Migration Council publishes essays commenting current political issues.
