The Roma Education Fund is part of the „Decade of Roma Inclusion“ initiated by the World Bank and adopted by ten governments, which began in 2005. The objective is to integrate the European Roma by means of innovative education projects, first in eastern and then also in western Europe.
The Freudenberg Foundation represents a group of European and US foundations on the Board of Trustees of the Roma Education Fund. In this position, it hopes to ensure the sustainability and dissemination of effective strategies of educational promotion such as, for example, education centers organized by Roma for Roma or Roma mediators and to make sure that these strategies become parts of national action plans.
